Reaction to Sadaris march 31

I don’t really have a strong opinion on this act and how it works. I have never seen the performance, but it sounded pretty cool. But I also understand what could happen and why some people may get upset. By handing out those cards at the end of the act, I feel that the team was just asking for trouble. Often, people think that christens are wimps and have a certain “look” to them, so I enjoyed that fact that these men were very strong and could do a lot of cool stunts! It just shows that they are just as strong as their faith. I think that in order for someone to have an actual opinion about this topic, would have to actually see the show.

About my topic

This is pretty much the same thing as my intro to my bib, because it asked the same questions.
All throughout my life, I have been surrounded by farmers and the country life. I heard my dad get up every morning at 4 am to milk the cows and I always thought he was amazing for it. He always told me, to be in this profession, you have to truly love what you do. You must love the animals and love this life; otherwise it will drive you crazy. This is exactly the reason why I chose to write my topic on dairy farming and all of its inner workings. I feel that there are a lot of people in the world who just don’t understand how important the profession really is and being a farmer’s daughter, the topic is one of interest and importance. However, this topic didn’t really come to me right away. I figured I would do something that involved my major, music, but when other people were in class discussing their topics, some of them brought up some topic that had to do with agriculture that really sparked my interest. I have lived on a farm all my life and I never heard the information these people were saying. At first it made me upset, because my dad is not a bad man and is just trying to make a living like everyone else, but after a while I came to the conclusion that a lot of people might not be as informed as I am on the subject of farming. By explaining what dairy farming is, selection of breeds, feeding and milking herds, herd management, as well as, how to financially maintain a dairy farm, whether it be commercial or local, I feel that many people will have a new insight to just how important farming can be.
When I first started researching my topic, I had originally planned to do a paper on organic farming vs. conventional farming. I thought it was a full proof plan and I would have no problem finding sources to use. Well, I was right. There were so many sources that I didn’t know what to pick! My dad is a conventional farming, meaning he doesn’t use chemicals that can harm people, however, he will use some medicines to help his heard if they are sick or to keep pests away from the crops, so when I researched organic farming, there were words used that I couldn’t even pronounce. I researched online and on article databases for over two hours trying to find information that I could understand, as well as, my audience. I had no luck and I was in a panic. I quickly emailed Professor Justus to see what I should do. In the mean time, I went to the IUP Library to see what I could find on conventional farming. While researching, very much to my surprise, the library had a whole bunch of books on dairy farming. I went upstairs to find them and found just what I had been looking for all along; a topic that was close to my heart and was easy for me to write about.  That was when I decided to write my research paper on dairy farming. I quickly checked out the books and before I knew it, I had a ton of extremely useful and interesting information.
While researching, there was one book that really stuck out to me. It was a book titled, Handbook for Dairymen, by Anthony Coletti. I couldn’t believe how much information was in this little book. Granted, it was from the 60’s, however, not much about conventional farming has changed since then. It had everything I was looking for. Its purpose was to provide information for dairy farmers, herdsmen, 4-H and F.F.A. members, and others who need to know about dairy cattle management. This book explains everything from what dairy farming is, to selection of breeds, feeding and milking herds, herd management, and much more. I am overall very excited to use this book and it will help me a great deal when I begin writing my paper.
Overall, I hope that my paper will give readers an insight to just how important and interesting farming can be. It is defiantly a profession that cannot go away. Without it, human beings would suffer greatly when it came to everyday needs or wants, like food, milk, baby formula, among other things. It is important for people to be informed about these kinds of topics, so they can spread their knowledge of facts and not something they heard or just read on the internet. I love the life I live at home and by writing this paper I feel like I am doing a great service to all farmers out there.
