Introduction

Hey blogging world! My name is Beth Cheek and I am a music education major at Indiana University of PA. I enjoy making music, watching sports, and hanging out with friends!

I thought that article, "Attached to Technology and Paying a Price" was very intriguing. I really agree with this article as well. I cannot fully live "in the moment" while I have something electric on. It is a constant distraction for me. Even when my friends come over to hang out when the TV is on we find ourselves talking less and just watching the TV...which we could all do on our own time, defeating the purpose of "hang out time." Not only with TV, but cell phones as well. Almost all my friends have a lover of some kind and even though they come over to hang out, I can't help but notice as were talking, they're having separate conversation with them all along. I do it all the time, but it is still extremely frustrating. However, I do understand the idea of multi-tasking and how it can sometimes help us focus better, but even then, scientists have found that there is some information being overlooked while doing this. I mean,  Mrs. Campbell checks her email at least 25 times a day WHILE also, sending texts and facebook posts. Where is the empathy in human communication anymore? Is it all electronic now? I find myself seeing my friends less and just texting them. That's not enough! Yet I still do it, and so do many other people in this world. Life was a lot more simple when we were younger. You just waited until you saw your friend at school or on the weekend to talk to them. I can't ever imagine being this involved with electronic devises as I get older, however, I feel the way out society is headed, I'm going to have to.
